NATAS
Student Emmy award for the Former President of the Broadcast Club,
Christy Derry, for her video “The Dexter Cider Mill” winning “Best
Student Production – Program category.” Madonna Broadcast Club students were among the first to present their version of the “Never Ending Movie”, a part of the Christopher Coppola Blog site First place awards at the Hollywood PAH Festival and the Motown PAH Festival Selected to participate as on-camera talent, directors, assistant coaches, camera operators, and editors for PAH Festivals NATAS Student Emmy award for the Broadcast Club production of “The Life and Times of Pablo Davis,” a half hour documentary on the activist and artist Impression from Nora Shkodra When I first went to Madonna, I was very interested in joining the Broadcast Club. I was voted a vice-president right-away. I was very happy and couldn’t wait till next year so I could run for president. I have to admit that since I was an international student, at first I hesitated to do so. Professor Chuck Derry encouraged me to run. So I did; and I won. That’s when my adventures begun. I was heavily involved with the Emmy Award winner documentary of the life of Pablo Davis that the previous presidents have started and never got to finish. I organized meeting twice a week and helped with production and post production as much as I could. I took it upon myself to finish this project that lasted for years, and I did it. I tried encouraging everyone to work as much as possible, and it would have never been done without everybody’s help. That was definitely the highlight of my presidency. After the project was done, there was the screening of Pablo Davis documentary, and it turned out to be a very successful night. I also organized a NATAS meeting, a day that ended up being simply amazing. We learned a lot, had fun and got to meet some important faces that later helped me get my internship at Channel 7 Action News. Being president of MU Broadcast Club was a tough but very fulfilling position. I learned a lot and got involved in so many events and productions that otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to. Although it was time consuming, it definitely paid off. My resume got more and more impressive each time that I got involved with any event. I believe I owe my current job to Broadcast Club; because the owner was really impressed with all the curricular activities that I had done while at Madonna. If you are a member of Broadcast Club, don’t ever stop being part of it, even if it seems like it’s getting overwhelming at times. You will create some of your best memories of your school year.
